SIBELIUS HALL 10 YEARS OLD

uutinen_10vuotta.jpg

Tuesday, 9 March 2010, marked the official 10th anniversary of the Sibelius Hall congress and concert centre, as exactly 10 years had passed since the inaugural concert. The anniversary was celebrated throughout the week as the normal work ramped up a notch - in other words, with an abundant offering of concerts.
In the autumn season of the festive year, starting in August, we will see several international visits. In addition to Sinfonia Lahti's classic core programme, the audience will be offered Finnish light music, operettas, children's music, afternoon tunes, stand-up comedy, and a generous number of Christmas concerts. The programme of the Main Hall includes more than 70 events, and Finlandia-klubi will be staging more than 20 gigs.

More than 1.6 million visitors in 10 years

The decade of Sibelius Hall's existence has seen more than 10,000 individual events, of all types, with total attendance of over 1.6 million people. The number of concerts organised exceeds 1,300, and they have been attended by more than a million listeners in total. More than 3,000 meetings, seminars, and other functions have been held here, attended by approximately 400,000 guests. The hall itself has been presented in seven languages, to approximately 105,000 people, in more than 5,300 tours. Approximately 300,000 visitors have attended the other 5,000 events in the hall.

Sibelius Hall is owned by the City of Lahti and managed by Lahden Sibeliustalo Oy.
