FOREST HALL

The Forest Hall is the heart of Sibelius Hall, and it links the various parts of the hall together.
Its combination of the old and the new gives rise to an intriguing interplay as the eaves of the red brick wall peek out from beneath the high ceiling of the Forest Hall.

Architects Hannu Tikka and Kimmo Lintula wanted the Forest Hall to be suggestive of the Finnish forests, with the branches of the tallest trees reaching up to the sky, where a map of the night sky twinkles, depicting the constellations as they were at the moment of Jean Sibelius’s birth. Large glass walls let in natural light and create a connection to the lakeside scenery. The Forest Hall serves as a foyer for concerts, but it also hosts large conference lunches and dinners as well as events with dancing. In addition, it serves as a space for exhibitions and trade fairs.
