After the Grawemeyer Award-winner Andrew Norman’s Play has demanded everything (and more) from the percussion instruments, we hear all the tone colours of Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird. Five years after the massive success of his of First Piano Concerto, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote the Second – a little more fiery, much more emotional and even more virtuosic. This rarely heard concerto is interpreted by Elisabeth Leonskaja, one of the greatest piano legends of our time.
