Founded in 1936 in Berkeley, California, the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra (YPSO) is the oldest youth orchestra in California and the nation’s oldest independent youth orchestra. For over 85 years, YPSO has nurtured talented young musicians from across the San Francisco Bay Area, many of whom have gone on to distinguished international careers.
Led by Music Director and Conductor David Ramadanoff (now in his 35th season), YPSO provides an inspiring orchestral experience with expert coaching and performance opportunities. With members ages 11–21, the orchestra is known for its excellence and has performed at world-renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and Vienna’s Musikverein.
