Gregorian – 25 Years Masters of Chant (GER)

The hugely popular Gregorian choir returns to Finland for its 25th anniversary tour!

Having already achieved worldwide popularity with their 1999 album Masters Of Chant, Gregorian is celebrating its successful career this year with the 25 Years Masters Of Chant anniversary tour. The beloved choir performed to sold-out halls in Finland on their anniversary tour earlier this year, and now more of the same delight is promised for the autumn. The spectacular anniversary show, featuring Gregorian classics from over the years, will visit Helsinki, Lahti, Joensuu, Vaasa and Turku in October.

Gregorian on kahdenkymmenenviiden vuoden ajan hurmannut yleisönsä koreografioiduilla esityksillään sekä kyvyllään vaihtaa saumattomasti tyylilajia kirkkolaulusta pop-ja rock-kappaleisiin. Frank Petersonin perustama kuoro nousi maailmanlaajuiseen suosioon jo vuoden 1999 Masters Of Chant -esikoisalbumilla. Sittemmin kuoro on esiintynyt yli 35 maassa ja myynyt yli 10 miljoonaa albumia. Maailman menestynein kuoro on saavuttanut kulta- ja platinastatuksen 24 eri maassa. Gregorianin kokeminen livenä merkitsee audiovisuaalista spektaakkelia, joka on jo 25 vuoden ajan kerännyt seisovia suosionosoituksia.  Kuoro on viime vuosien aikana myynyt loppuun useita konserttisaleja myös  Suomessa.

The idea for the Gregorian Choir was born when Frank Peterson visited the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial in Spain in 1989. While wandering around the medieval monastery and castle complex and listening to contemporary music on his Walkman, he was inspired to experiment with a new sound. Peterson came up with the idea of mixing ancient Gregorian chant with modern music. Peterson first realized his idea with Michael Cretu and the global sound phenomenon Enigma. Their first album MCMXC a.D. was released in 1990 and quickly became a huge success. MCMXC a.D. was number one in 41 countries and sold 57 times platinum and 45 times gold. It is considered the most successful German album of all time worldwide. Enigma’s huge success paved the way for Gregorian, who took the musical idea a step further.

Frank Peterson has been involved in various music projects and international productions for over 30 years. He has worked as a producer with, among others, Sarah Brightman, Enigma, Justin Timberlake, Andrea Bocelli, Paul Stanley (Kiss), Backstreet Boys, Alannah Myles, José Carreras, Tom Jones and Plácido Domingo. In addition to Gregorian, Peterson has worked as a program producer for, among others, Sarah Brightman since 2005.

At the end of last year, Gregorian released a new album 25/2025 to celebrate its anniversary, which includes both new songs and new versions of well-known Gregorian classics.

The length of the concert is about 3 hours, including intermission.
