Jaakko Kuusisto: Symphony
The conductor, composer and violinist Jaakko Kuusisto left behind a rich body of enjoyable music, the style and tradition of which cannot yet be quantified. His most famous and most frequently performed work is the Violin Concerto composed for Elina Vähälä, which Pete Townshend of The Who described as ‘a wonderful adventure, crazy in places, but most delightful’. The Focus concert, conducted by Osmo Vänskä, is dedicated to a central figure in Finnish musical life and long-time leader of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra. This emotional evening will culminate in Jaakko’s final work, the Symphony completed by his brother Pekka.
