High drama and exhilarating classics – the opening concert of the season brings to life melodies inspired by opera, theatre, myth and film. Leonard Bernstein compiled the best of West Side Story into a rousing orchestral suite, and two-time Oscar-winner Erich Wolfgang Korngold returned to the concert stage with a violin concerto evoking the mood of adventure films. The violin star Randall Goosby, acclaimed for his elegant interpretations, makes his debut as a soloist with the Lahti Symphony Orchestra.
