Gustav Mahler, known for his huge works evoking the forces of fate, took a step sideways in his Fourth Symphony. The composer’s shortest and lightest symphony is a benevolent journey towards the kingdom of heaven, a place of abundance and friendship. The resourceful Johan Dalene makes his debut in Lahti with the world premiere of Tebogo Monnakgotla’s Violin Concerto. Swedish Grammy winner Andrea Tarrodi’s Birds of Paradise II invites you to be carried aloft on the wings of exotic birds.
