THE SHOW – A Tribute to ABBA 50 Years Celebration
THE SHOW – Tribute to ABBA 50 Years Celebration 1974 – 2024, which tells ABBA’s entire story, will be seen in Lahti, Turku, Jyväskylä, Helsinki and Kuopio in October.
ABBA’s international career took off like a rocket at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton, England, where the Swedish band won the contest with their song Waterloo. Over the following decades, ABBA released a series of worldwide hits that made the group one of the most popular and well-known groups of all time. Known for their hits such as SOS, Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, Knowing Me Knowing You, the group is the world’s second most sold pop group right after The Beatles.
THE SHOW – A Tribute to ABBA, which has performed to more than 2 million people on five continents, has prepared its own celebration performance for ABBA’s 50th anniversary, which includes all of ABBA’s greatest hits. THE SHOW – Tribute to ABBA 50 Years Celebration 1974 – 2024 is a live concert that takes the audience on a journey through ABBA’s entire history. The journey starts with ABBA’s Eurovision win and ends in 1982, when the band ended their career.
THE SHOW centers on Swedish singers Katja Nord and Camilla Dahlin*, who not only look like their idols Frida and Agnetha, but also sound like them. Katja Nord and Camilla Dahlin have been involved in the ambitious project from its beginning. They were discovered for the show in 2001 after winning a popular Swedish talent show with their Abba covers.
The ABBA show’s music is provided by the Swedish band Waterloo, which has been joined by the original ABBA musician Lasse Johnsson* (guitar) in honor of the anniversary. Johnson plays on ABBA’s latest Voyage album, and has also worked on two ABBA musicals (Chess and Mamma Mia) with Björn and Benny. The music rises again to new dimensions with the prestigious London Symphonic Rock Orchestra and the British chief conductor Matthew Freeman. Freeman has previously performed with, among others, Elvis Costello, Robbie Williams and Sir Cliff Richard.
* THE SHOW reserves the right to change performers.
The duration of the concert is approx. 2 h 30 min, including an intermission.
